Our vast experience in the production of high-precision small parts combined with our Chmer equipment enables us to deliver wire EDM machining services that meet exacting design standards. Whatever your industry or application, our skilled machinists and high-quality automated process are ready to produce the parts you need, to the exact specifications you require and the highest Cpk and Ppk process results.
Why Wire EDM?
Wire EDM machining services are highly effective for use on materials that are typically very difficult to work with, including hardened steels, titanium, high-alloy steels, tungsten carbide, Inconel, and some conductive ceramics.
Wire EDM is capable of cutting conductive materials precisely and accurately, holding tolerances as tight as ±0.0001” (0.00254 mm). The cutting wire never touches the workpiece; instead, cutting occurs along the entire length of the wire adjacent to the workpiece, producing a burr-free surface finish regardless of the size of the cut. In addition, CNC guides help to ensure the accuracy of the wire path and allow for multi-axis cutting, to produce tapered cuts and complex shapes such as small radius inside corners and narrow slots.
Why Metal Cutting for Wire EDM Machining Services?
Holding tolerances as tight as ±0.0001” (0.00254 mm), our highly specialized wire EDM machining services produce pins, probes, and other small diameter, solid metal parts at highly repeatable lengths and without deformation, distortion, or delamination. Our process can tightly hold end features such as squareness and parallelism, with a taper angle of 45° and an internal corner radius of .0025″ (.064 mm).
Using a brass, copper, zinc-coated, molybdenum, or tungsten electrode wire with a diameter from 0.004″ to 0.012″ (0.101 mm to 0.304 mm), our EDM equipment can cut materials from a maximum 6″ (152.4 mm) high, 24″ (609.6 mm) long, and 24″ (609.6 mm) wide. In addition to having features such as auto-threading and temperature controls, our equipment allows for stacked parts machining and unattended runs, for optimal production speed and efficiency.
Our wire EDM machining services accommodate production runs from prototyping through high volume for up to 5-axis CNC machining. In addition, we offer a variety of secondary capabilities, supporting everything from engineering and design to polishing and heat treatment, through non-destructive surface finish testing, quality control and inspection, and custom packaging.
