Routinely producing precision metal parts with diameters as small as 0.012” (0.31 mm) and lengths as short as 0.032” (0.81 mm), our equipment can also accommodate lengths up to 12” (304.8 mm) and diameters up to 1.75” (44.45 mm).

We employ our multi-purpose lathe equipment and CNC programming expertise to create an array of surface shapes, from the simple to the complex and including cylindrical and conical shapes. For precision removal of metal, our skilled machinists utilize a remarkable variety of techniques and our flexible turret slant bed lathe with a 12-position turret to achieve a wide range of part features. These include (but are not limited to) turning, boring, drilling, threading (both internal and external), internal tapping, grooving, face grooving, side turning, profiling, facing, knurling, cut-off, chamfering, parting off, and radiusing.
Our Advantages in CNC Lathe Machining
Our Haas CNC lathe equipment is ideal for piecework requiring fast setup, small quantities, and bigger diameters. Utilizing our precision tail stock support, we are able to manufacture much longer parts than are possible even with more sophisticated automatic Swiss-style lathe machines. In addition, our turret lathe allows for production of duplicate parts and multiple cutting operations with minimal setup in between.
People in other metal fabrication disciplines often come to us for secondary operations on preformed parts that have been deep drawn, fine blanked, centerless ground, cold headed, or micro-stamped. Our skills and finesse enable us to employ any of the full range of CNC lathe machining techniques without damaging the original formed and fabricated features. In addition, we have expertise in performing secondary operations on sharpened parts, preserving the cutting blade while doing lathe turning on the opposite end of the part.
Using Virtually Any Metal
Our CNC metal lathe machining expertise also enables us to work with a complete array of metals, giving your design engineers the flexibility to be creative and to choose the material that will deliver the best performance for your application. In addition to more common materials such as aluminum, brass, and certain stainless steels, our CNC lathe machinists are highly experienced in working with specialty metals. This includes Elgiloy®, a superalloy known for its corrosion resistant and its high strength, ductility, and long life, which is frequently used in application ranging from springs and seals to medical devices, implants, and wire.
We are skilled in working with Nitronic 60 alloy, which — thanks to properties including resistance to high temperatures, oxidation, wear, and galling — is used for applications such as valve stems, seats, and trim, fastening systems, screening, pins, bushings and roller bearings, pump shafts and rings, wear plates, rails guides, and bridge pins. We are also experts in working with M2 tool steel, a widely used industrial steel with high wear resistance and, after heat treatment, hardness, bending strength, toughness, and thermoplasticity that make it popular for manufacturing a variety of tools, such as drill bits, taps, and reamers.
