Since our founding in 1967, Metal Cutting has been perfecting the art and science of custom metal cutting services. Our highly trained, skilled, and experienced team of precision metal cutting specialists produces tens of thousands of parts every day — meeting not only tight deadlines, but also the tight tolerances required by high-tech device manufacturers. With our array of state-of-the-art equipment combined with our in-house inventory of diverse specialty metal tubes, rods, and wires, we stand ready to tackle even the most stringent specifications and production schedules.
Precision Cutting
Among our custom metal cutting services, our precision cutting skills enable us to hold the very tightest cutting tolerances with the highest Cpk/Ppk values. With more than 45 proprietary abrasive and EDM cut-off machines at our command in our two factories, we offer unmatched volume capacity and dimensional precision to produce burr-free cut-off metal parts.
Grinding and Lapping
With our full-service grinding and lapping capabilities, Metal Cutting offers an extensive range of CNC surface, profile, plunge, taper, double disk, and centerless grinding. Our lapping, surface, and double disk grinding enables us to generate specific surface finishes, including highly polished, and extremely tight length tolerances with extraordinary flatness. Our CNC through-feed and in-feed centerless grinding machines allow us to create our customers' most complex and customized taper and end features down to 0.002” (0.05 mm) diameter and lengths from 12’ (4 m) to as short as 0.080" (2 mm).
Polishing
Our custom metal cutting services take metal polishing beyond its traditional limits. Our carefully crafted, unique mechanical polishing recipes combine the full range of abrasives, action, fluids, temperature, and time to yield consistent metal surface finishes as smooth as Ra 0.010 µm in volumes from a few parts to tens of millions.
CNC Metal Machining
For state-of-the-art high precision machining, our expert and highly experienced machinists and versatile Swiss-style automatic lathes and multi-axis CNC machines are ideally equipped to turn, mill, and drill complex and small precision metal components with speed and efficiency.
Finishing
In addition to polishing surface finishes to a smoothness of Ra 0.010 µm, Metal Cutting performs an extensive array of custom metal finishing services as final preparation of parts after cutting. Our metal radius precision machining provides a lower cost alternative to individually turned chamfers. We offer masked and unmasked sand blasting for controlled abrasion of metal surfaces. We also do in-house passivation, offer both the citric acid and nitric acid methods, adhering to the latest ASTM A967 standard.
