Metal Cutting is a proud supporter of Shangilia, a home for street children in the slums of Kenya’s capital, Nairobi. The organization was founded in 1994 by a committed group of Kenyans. Today it provides a safe and nurturing environment, regular schooling, and vocational training to 200 children and teenagers, helping them to independently and responsibly shape their lives.
Shangilia places special emphasis on encouraging expression through dance, music, and acrobatics in order to help build confidence and courage through creativity. In addition to changing the lives of Kenyan street children, Shangilia actively works to reshape preconceptions of these children by offering global, public performances.
Metal Cutting works in specific partnership with Shangila Germany e.V. to provide reliable financial support for education which includes:
- Primary and Secondary school fees, board, uniforms, meals and books.
- Primary school teachers’ salaries
- Valuable vocational training which enables students to emerge competitively into the limited employment market.
99.6% of all donations go directly–and transparently–towards the efficacy of Shangila’s programs, including the completion of a new eight classroom school building.
