Meeting the Full Spectrum of Molybdenum Wire Requirements
From our beginning in 1967, we have been working with molybdenum and perfecting our skills in cutting, grinding, lapping, and polishing this uniquely beneficial refractory metal. Today, our specialized molybdenum wire operation results in a product with good stability, good tensile strength, high precision cutting, and low elongation. The wire components we deliver are widely used in a range of industries and applications where heat resistance, low vapor pressure, and low thermal expansion are vital, such as aerospace, medical devices, electronics, and lighting components.
Wire to Your Specifications
We offer molybdenum wire on spools or cut to lengths as short as 0.008″ (0.20 mm) as well as according to customers’ specific tolerance, concentricity, and straightness requirements. Our precision wire is available in any round diameter (≥ 0.00025”/0.0063 mm), meeting a wide range of customer needs. Our wire is available in a complete array of surface finishes, from as-drawn to electropolished to gold plated.
Because we blend our own powders, we can supply a range of doped and undoped compositions. We have molybdenum products with precision cerium dopant and therefore, the highest recrystallization properties in the industry. At the other end of the spectrum (and unique among refractory wire drawing companies), we offer the only truly contaminant-free 99.999% pure undoped molybdenum wire.
We offer the only vertically integrated in-house production of gold plated molybdenum wire. The thickness of our gold plating starts at our recommended minimum of 0.3 microns to achieve maximum savings and still maintain uniform and defect-free gold plate along the entire wire surface. We are able to place a 1.5 micron gold plated surface onto spooled wire with diameters as small as 0.001″ (0.025 mm).
Our Expertise Extends to Rod and Ribbon
Beyond the requirements for molybdenum wire, we also offer molybdenum in the form of cut-to-length rod and as ribbon, also available in all molybdenum compositions, surface finishes, and quantities, to meet virtually any customer need.
Our unique advantage in molybdenum ribbon is that ours is engineered for high-volume production and economical pricing. Our ribbon can be made from all available molybdenum wire metallurgical compositions and can be produced at width-to-thickness ratios under 8:1. Our molybdenum ribbon can also receive the same surface treatments as our wire. In addition to specialty electropolishing, the ribbon can be gold plated by the same methods utilized in the production of our gold plated molybdenum wire, to produce both the minimum recommended thickness and other plating thicknesses you may require.
