As part of our metal finishing services, we have the ability to place a metal radius of various geometries on the ends of parts or at the diameter transitions, meeting the requirements of a wide range of applications. Using our skilled machine shop’s Swiss-style automatic turning lathe equipment and CNC multi-tool, multi-axis lathes, we can place a radius (or chamfer) at the corner of a product as simple as a tube or pin or as complex as a multi-diameter machined part.
Metal Radius Corner
For the lowest cost and highest volume, a tumbled radius is a low-cost alternative that can achieve the same result. With our ability to process very high volumes of parts simultaneously, we can achieve various defined metal radius corners depending on part geometry and material type to give you the required rounded radius on your parts.
Excelling at Corner Angles and Features
When machining metal parts, the corner of the end cut feature, where the end cut meets the longitudinal length and diameter of the part, is very important. Our radius machining process enables us to produce a remarkable diversity of corner features — from a fully sharp 90° corner to its inverse, a full 90° step, and everything in between.
Depending on the application, our metal radius machining services may produce further stepped features, with single or multiple right angle intersections in steps, either inverse or obverse; rounded features, such as concave or convex configurations; or a combination of angled and rounded features. We can produce a 90° inside fillet without a radius, as well as the classic 45° isolinear chamfer, and do so while holding minutes and seconds in the tolerances of the angles, both for isolinear features and curvature.
Other Metal Finishing Services
Our machining skills and equipment capabilities also enable us to produce threads, cross-holes, windows, flats, slots, and various other shapes and features. With years of experience in high precision CNC and Swiss-style automatic machining, we have expertise in handling virtually any metal — including ferrous and light alloys, with a specialty in titanium — achieving tolerances to ±0.0002″ (±0.005 mm) with even the most challenging geometries. Our CNC machining capabilities are well suited to small part production, second operation parts, short runs, and prototyping. This allows us to meet the needs of the micro-machining market, as well as projects requiring small batches and fast turnaround.
